What are turbine engines?
Turbine engines: (often called jet engines) and also called combustion turbines, are rotary engines that extract energy from a flue of combustion gas. This has an upstream compressor coupled to a turbine downstream and a combustion chamber in the middle. Turbine aircraft can be propeller-driven or jet-powered.

What are piston engines?
Piston engines: (also known as reciprocating engines) use technology fundamentally similar to those used by cars and motorcycles, where the pistons in the cylinders are used to build driving force into propulsion, turning the pressure into a rotary motion. These engines always move a propeller.
