For many years, airlines, engineering companies and maintenance departments have struggled to hire maintenance engineers and technicians, and now there is a global shortage.

An aircraft mechanic's top priority is to ensure the safety and airworthiness of aircraft for passenger travel, air cargo, or ocean transportation for airlines, flight schools, and more. However, in Portugal there is a shortage of aircraft mechanics with the appropriate license for the necessary functions. According to the Pilot and Technician Outlook 2023-2042, 2.3 million new employees will be needed: "Long-term demand for newly qualified aviation personnel remains strong, as 649,000 new pilots, 690,000 new maintenance technicians and 938,000 new cabin crew members will be needed to fly and maintain the global commercial fleet over the next 20 years."
