What does an Aircraft Maintenance Technician do?
The work of an Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) requires great manual dexterity and knowledge to keep the aircraft in optimal operating conditions by performing scheduled maintenance or repairs.
- Perform and supervise maintenance work to ensure the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft, with the necessary quality standards.
- Issuance of certificates validating the airworthiness of the aircraft, after maintenance of the structure and mechanical and electrical systems.
- Execution of complex tasks.
An AMT is responsible for the safety of aircraft. Without this crucial work, planes are left grounded. The impact and operational contribution are direct; therefore, it is important to have the correct qualifications and certificates.
What to study?
IFA, certified by ANAC - National Civil Aviation Authority, has different types of AMT courses that allow you to obtain a professional license in category B1.
IFA Industries is an EASA Part 147 ATO - Approved Training Organisation for the training of aircraft maintenance technicians.The complete courses (abinitio) offered by IFA have a theoretical component in the classroom and a practical part in the maintenance hangar and fully cover all the requirements for the issuance of a Part 66 aircraft maintenance technician license.
During the full course, you will be able to work in a team, solve problems and you will gain a strong technical knowledge as the roles require an understanding of detailed engineering schematics.
The content of the IFA courses in AMT includes theoretical and practical classes, for the subcategories of Turbine Engine (B1. 1) and Piston Engine (B1. 2), which cover:
- aircraft diagnostics and rectification
- replacement of aircraft components
- aircraft equipment
- inspection and monitoring of the general condition of the aircraft
